Our Values

Honesty: We operate with openness, humility, truthfulness, and trustworthiness in sincere, loving, and straightforward ways.

Inclusivity: We create environments that harness the power of multiple perspectives, lifestyles, and experiences to bring traditionally excluded individuals and groups into processes, decision- and policy-making, and resource allocation in a way that redistributes power and ensures access and belonging.

Intentionality: We make the time and space to process our thoughts, feelings, and experiences —and ask challenging questions of ourselves and others to better understand the world around us and act in meaningful ways that propels our mission forward.

Courage: We actively, thoughtfully, and creatively persevere to advance the interests of the communities we serve, even when facing complexity, adversity, and risk of failure.

Collaboration: We seek to connect and build genuine relationships centered around trust and shared goals. We embrace the interdependence that weaves through our values and the systems through which they operate, and we strive to listen and respond with authenticity.

Our Commitment to Growth:

In 2023, our staff and board members joined together to build our intercultural competence.

With support from two expert facilitators with PINK Consulting, we worked to better understand our own values, beliefs, expectations, and practices to better shift perspective and adapt our behaviors to cultural differences and commonalities. With practice, support, and tools, we are building more inclusive work spaces and board meetings, so we can live our values surrounding equity, diversity, and belonging.

“The board has fully embraced the DEI process, has worked hard, and has made important self and group discoveries that will serve Great MN Schools well going forward. We have built a strong foundation of new and old skills that have improved our community understanding and our commitment to the students, schools, and families we serve.”
