Great MN Schools Stands with Immigrant Families

Schools Must Remain Safe Havens for Learning

At Great MN Schools, our mission is to ensure that ALL children have access to an excellent education, regardless of their background. In order for students to thrive, schools must continue to be safe havens where every student can learn. No family should fear sending their child to school for any reason, including threats to their safety and well being.

The current climate, a result of new federal policies and actions, has created an understandable amount of fear and anxiety for many in our community, including Somali and other immigrant families. These families are vital and valuable members of our school and Minneapolis communities. We stand with all our students and families during this uncertain time and remain committed to supporting the schools we serve.

Our work with schools aims to ensure all students are getting the quality education they deserve. This includes ensuring all students feel they belong in school and in their communities. In moments of uncertainty, strong schools and strong communities matter more than ever. We remain dedicated to both.
