Emergency Student Connectivity Fund

Federal immigration enforcement is preventing students from attending school —but learning cannot stop. Help us provide the support they need.

The Crisis

Education is a fundamental right, yet federal immigration enforcement is denying children access to education.

The reality in Minneapolis schools:

  • Across our network, 25-50% of students are staying home due to immigration enforcement activity
  • School staff have been detained from parking lots
  • Schools are deploying extra security, door-to-door transportation, and staff escorts on buses just to keep students safe
It feels like we are trying to teach in a war zone.

– Educator in Great MN Schools’ Portfolio

Despite this, teachers and school leaders are fighting to keep kids learning—pivoting to remote options for students most impacted. Our schools serve over 9,000 students, the majority of whom are students of color from low-income backgrounds – many from immigrant families. These are precisely the students most impacted by current enforcement activity, and the students who can least afford to fall further behind.

How You Can Help
